Living the lifestyle of epilepsy isn’t easy. In my opinion it a challenging lifestyle to live. We need to remember our meds everyday . We have to schedule our days for rides, if we have work , appts,, or just some errands. Whether it be by our friends and families, or transportation services , like the bus or taxi . Depending the type epilepsy we have, we are always expecting the unexpected with our seizures. It all one big obstacle and we all have too find our way thru. Best thing to day is take it day by day.

You just have to read yourself and what your body needs to stay healthy. You can manage your siezures. Don't let them manage you. I have an illness not a handicap. It's only a handicap if you let it be. Hang tough!

Life is harder because you are so limited. Can't hold a job because having a seizure while working scares people. Some people want to get away from the situation and never deal with it again. Living on disability is very limiting. If you are able to work, getting to a job is costly. Getting a ride from a taxi costs more than you can be paid. Those are the reasons for me. I live in a rural area.

First of all you have control of your thoughts and decisions , not Epilepsy. If you let epilepsy control you, you'll be at a downward spiral. Whether that be depression or suicide. Try to keep positive. Keep in mind we are able to do a majority of things. We all are doing day to day routines. Whether that be cleaning, cooking, taking care of kids( if you have any), and ect. The only thing that different is, that we take meds to control our seizures. Which makes our life a little challenging. if you have arrands to do and they aren't far, you can walk, ride a bike, and use transportation services if there are any in your area. It may help raise your self esteem. Another thing that may help is meet other people w/ epilepsy thru a support group . The Epilepsy Foundation usually has an adult support group, once a month. Maybe give that a try.
