Among other things, I also went to a neurologist and told him that the valproic acid was three times below the norm. I asked what he would do? Reply to me will not take any action. And it is the basis of seizures. This is what kind of doctors Bulgaria has.
How many of you are testing valproic acid over what period and what values are they reporting?
You have a great Neurologist! Mine was Doctor Comair of Neurology specializing in Neurosurgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. But now he is in another state.
How effective is the valproic medication?
I took valporic acid and had to stop because it tripled my ammonia levels which would have led to liver damage just like Rusti. It did control my seizures. Went back on phenobarbital.
, if it's not too much trouble could you send me the Depakote studies
If I change the drug can I get my memory back..And would the tremors stop.
You are welcome
If this is temporary when does your appetite increase and the dreaded weight gain start?
Recently my Dr increased my Gabapentin three fold and added 100 mg of Topamax. Since the med change I've noticed a lot more leg pain and numbness. I can no longer walk a flight of stairs without stopping and even walking around the house has become a problem. They are keeping me awake at night twitching and aching. Is this normal, part of getting used to it?

About six years ago I noticed several times when my wife would say, "Do you smell that?" and I couldn't. Then I noticed some foods like green peppers and onions that I hated I could go ahead and eat because I couldn't taste it. I did some research and one thing I found is epilepsy and brain surgery were in the list of reasons I could lose these senses. Anyone else notice it?
Having epilepsy alone can affect any sense you have you have. Mine has decreased sense of smell from start. But also, anything can change as aging at different speed for everyone. Such as the sense of… read more
Does anyone else suffer from vapor trails from time to time with photo epilepsy ?
Thank you I think your the only one other than me. Lol
I've had juvenile myoclonoic epilepsy for about 4 years now and have only had 2 grand mal seizures. I take 200 mg of lamotrigine daily, but was previously on 1250 mg of valproic acid. When I was first diagnosed, my neurologist said she'd only recommend having 2 drinks max. I'm in university right now and the temptation to drink is very high. I have been getting pretty drunk going out partying, including nights where i have about 13 drinks (I'm 200 lbs). I have been fine in the morning… read more
