My specialist has said I can now try for a baby! But i have a few risks cause I’m on 3 medication. 2 are safe but he says the topamax can be a risk...
Hi everyone,.
Went to my Neuro yesterday. I will be stopping Vimpat 100mg BID and starting maybe Topamax.
Vimpat isn't controlling my seizures. I started it a few weeks ago and I already gained 10lbs and loosing my hair like crazy. Which sucks because I just lost my baby weight from pregnancy and started growing my hair back from breastfeeding
Anyway, what are your experiences with Topamaz? Going to be on 50mg BID
Kindra it was just an added bonus, you lose a few extra pounds in the beginning it doesn't continue dang it. But it does keep my migraines down. The only time I get them now is after a bad seizure.
Hi guys,
I'm not on any medication at the moment for my tonic clonic and grand mal seizures.
I'm wanting to speak to my Dr about maybe starting Topomax.
Has anyone been on it? Any side effects? Does it help stop seizures?
Did you take topomax in conjunction with other seizure meds or on it's own?
Thanks heaps.
I hope you have a blessed Christmas holiday also @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member:. Topomax is terrible! I'm glad that I've outlived anticonvulsants.
What antidepressant do you all take with your AEDs? I'm looking for a new healthcare plan, and none of them seem to cover my current antidepressant, Venlafaxine.
my dad told me it was good for anxiety and seizures. it goes a long way in the family
I've tried a few meds, been taking lamotrigine & lacosomide for years with no joy, still have several seizures a month. Neurologist prescribed topiramate today. Does anyone take it? Any side effects? Any success?
Hi
I started topiramate a few months back and at first thought "This isn't bad. Only on the increase I get some side effects" then once I'd got to the dose my neurologist wanted me on which is only… read more
Recently my Dr increased my Gabapentin three fold and added 100 mg of Topamax. Since the med change I've noticed a lot more leg pain and numbness. I can no longer walk a flight of stairs without stopping and even walking around the house has become a problem. They are keeping me awake at night twitching and aching. Is this normal, part of getting used to it?
I have been taking lamictal since the beginning of August (took 3months to slowly change from topamax)
I have had absence seizures for as long as I can remember but I have not had a convulsive seizure since I was 6
Until now
I have had 2 in the last 4 months. There are no definite triggers or reasons behind them the just happen without warning.
Does anyone think it is the medication? If it is it's not only not helping my seizures but it is making them drastically worse. I am just not… read more
Some of the medicines you are taking my not agree with you just keep trying new ones till they do, I did with success after about a year.
My doctor thinks about switching me to another medicine in another month or two and its like my tenth one and i dont know how i feel about it? He's switching me from topamax to Aptiom any thoughts? I never been on it.
I was on Topamax. It didn't help me, in fact caused me breathing problems I can tell you in my 54yrs, I have been on A Lot more than 11. Keep trying
