If You Had Resection Surgery Can You Answer These Please?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Do they use screws to hold it together? Can you feel the fact your skull has been cut or that there are screws(if there is screws)? If anyone has has a resection, do you know a rough estimate what the answers would be? I know i can always ask the day of surgery for more exact answers, i just kinda want to go into knowing ahead of… read more

Med Issues
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Why all this worry bout seizure meds sides? Would some prefer seizures to happen? Diagnosed 50yrs ago bout 2-3 types of AEDs available. Now there are so many specifically for various seizure types which is even better. Seizure control is better now too. Yet others feel meds hurt more than help? Would never say if it was your heart having the problem. Advice from any source than your Dr. please take it from where it's coming - a non-medical opinion. Nice to exchange of ideas or opinions but… read more

Sorry about the aftereffects of the surgery! Great job of explaining of not just what you had to relearn and how, but also slipping in a little brain at work education for us too!

What Has Been Your Experience With Surgery?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Every neurologist I have seen tells me I need surgery to control my seizures. I have temporal lobe epilepsy that causes complex partial seizures. I've been through four different medications and still do not have control over the seizures.

I don't know if my condition is progressing or if the medication is causing me problems, but either way, I have noticed that I have forgotten a lot of things and my thought process is slower than it used to be. It's driving me nuts. I used to be the top of my… read more
