Covid And Appointments
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was due to have my 8 monthly check up with the neuro at the beginning.of April I had a text to say it would be a phone consultation This was so much easier than the usual face to face which usually involves m husband having to do a 30 miles round trip with me ,park miles away from the hospital climb 4 flights of stairs ( don't like lifts ) I have ' complex epilepsy' & I'm got much more from the phone consultation Anyone else found these phone consultations useful ?

BRAIN ISSUES = EPILEPSY, EPILEPSY = SEIZURES, SEIZURES = MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES, IF TALK CAN'T TOUCH THE BRAIN, HOW'S IT GOING TO CURE THINGS?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

My epilepsy is triggered by issues on the part of the brain that regulates emotions. The issues there bring about seizures. Seizures drop me down regularly and for days. I'm lost as to how people say talk helps, when talk can't touch the brain.

Why the professionals say that talk help, especially venting to family and friends, is that it helps get out the built up negative emotions and these raise anxiety, depression and stress, etc. All of… read more

Has Anyone Had Brain Surgery To Correct Their Seizures? Im Scared And Would Love To Hear Your Stories And Get Any Advice I Can
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've got complex partial seizures with identified abnormality in my temporal lobe. Seizures are focal so my neurologist said surgery is an option I should consider, but I'm pretty scared and not sure it is worth it. My seizures aren't very bad and I could still lead a mostly-normal life but I plan to become a doctor and with sleep deprivation being a major trigger for me it may prevent me from pursuing my desire to work in a hospital (which means long hours). Im not sure about the process of… read more

What Is A Common Type Of Employment A Person With Epilepsy Can Do?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I used to be in management. I got the Position before my diagnosis, but lost it when the company was bought out. I live in an at will state so they just let me go. I totally understand that I couldn't legally do the job due to most of the work being driving all around Washington State managing demolition crews. But now, I am at a loss. I lost the job in April, and haven't been able to find any employment that would accommodate my disability. I am tired and refuse to spend any more time stressing… read more
