Does Anyone Have Experience With The RNS Device? My Brother Has It Implanted And Is Doing Terrible With It.
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

He's having crazier ,strange seizures . His medication was supposed to decrease ,it's been played with and increased instead. His seizures are bizarre ,I'm sorry ,there's no other word to describe them. I'm His only care taker and it's scary. Should we get the device turned off?

I'm Curious About Brain Surgery. 🧠
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

It turns out I am medication and VNS resistant. My neurologist is really pushing for another 7 day in-study so we can look into brain surgery. I am scared poopless. 😱 I want to know about your experiences...did it work? how was the surgery itself? Any info is appreciated.

Do Any Of You Have Seizures Occurring In The Insular Cortex Or Parietal Operculum?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

So after my two attempts at brain surgery have not made me seizure free even with medication, my doctor suspects that my epilepsy is occurring in the insular cortex and or parental operculum. Unfortunately, it seems like it's not a much studied form of epilepsy and may actually be not that common. For those that have it, I'm just wondering how you moved forward with managing it? I'm asking because quite honestly, my seizures are having some affects that I never had pre surgery and is making me… read more

Has Anyone Had Brain Surgery To Correct Their Seizures? Im Scared And Would Love To Hear Your Stories And Get Any Advice I Can
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've got complex partial seizures with identified abnormality in my temporal lobe. Seizures are focal so my neurologist said surgery is an option I should consider, but I'm pretty scared and not sure it is worth it. My seizures aren't very bad and I could still lead a mostly-normal life but I plan to become a doctor and with sleep deprivation being a major trigger for me it may prevent me from pursuing my desire to work in a hospital (which means long hours). Im not sure about the process of… read more
