Memory Loss With Certain Medication?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi there ladies & gents. I have just joined this group and it seems really nice and welcoming
I was going to ask something, has anyone had any sort of memory trouble when taking the lamotrigine medication? I was on 100mg 3 times a day and my memory really did seem faint. I was getting really worried about this but the doctors didn't really do anything about it. I have had the lamotrigine decreased as I am taking a higher dose of keppra now but really would like someone to write back if they… read more

Dilantin
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I took Dilantin for a few years as a child. I'm not sure why my doctor switched me from Dilantin to Tegretol, but I'm assuming it's because I broke through on it. I really liked it, but I suppose what I'm on now is best for controlling my seizures.

Birth Control
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was wondering if anyone on here take Lamictal (Lamotrigine), and has found an effective method of birth control, other than an IUD. I used to take pills, but now they are saying they decrease the effectiveness of the Lamictal, and they keep pushing for an IUD, and I will not get that. Lol

Lamictal Withdrawal.
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Have any of you experienced shortness of breath with Lamictal withdrawal? Unfortunately I had to stop Lamictal immediately due to purple rash on my back, sores on my throat and I had fever blisters on my lips.

It's day 2. No seizures having a hard time breathing. I do have asthma but trying to avoid using the inhalers. Upping my CBD usually helps this choking, shortness of breath feeling I have if it's seizure related its not. I used my inhalers yesterday they didn't work

I lowered my dose of Lamictal when I went on extended release. I have been feeling like I can't catch my breath, especially if I go on a walk or just something that uses any energy.

Changing Medication From Immediate Release To Extended Release
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have been on Lamictal since July of last year. After we got to the dosage my doctor wanted, we found that my level runs on the low side. It still is in the therapeutic range but some days it dips low from being off by an hour when I take it and I start getting auras and absence seizures. The doctor gave me two options: take lamictal three times a day or switch to Lamictal XR. I thought there was only brand name lamictal XR so I opted for 3 times a day until I discovered lamotrigine ER a.k.a… read more
