Memory Loss With Certain Medication?

Memory Loss With Certain Medication?

Hi there ladies & gents. I have just joined this group and it seems really nice and welcoming
I was going to ask something, has anyone had any sort of memory trouble when taking the lamotrigine medication? I was on 100mg 3 times a day and my memory really did seem faint. I was getting really worried about this but the doctors didn't really do anything about it. I have had the lamotrigine decreased as I am taking a higher dose of keppra now but really would like someone to write back if they… read more

Dilantin

Dilantin

I took Dilantin for a few years as a child. I'm not sure why my doctor switched me from Dilantin to Tegretol, but I'm assuming it's because I broke through on it. I really liked it, but I suppose what I'm on now is best for controlling my seizures.

Since then, I've been on numerous forms of Tegretol,, Tranxene for a short time, and currently, Leviteracetam(Keppra, in addition to Tegretol). Chelsey, what does VNS stand for?

Medication Decisions

Medication Decisions

My daughter was on Keppra and it controlled seizures but with bad side effects and then changed topamax. Topamax is allowing breakthrough seizures with side effects. We want to add back the Keppra low dose with Topamax. Has anyone done this ? The neurologist wanted to just put her on Keppra again completely. And then switch her to lamictal in the summer. She has JME

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member said:

Well she's was placed on lamictal and now she has a wierd rash. Is the lamictal or topamax or something else causing the rash ?

Changing Medication From Immediate Release To Extended Release

Changing Medication From Immediate Release To Extended Release

I have been on Lamictal since July of last year. After we got to the dosage my doctor wanted, we found that my level runs on the low side. It still is in the therapeutic range but some days it dips low from being off by an hour when I take it and I start getting auras and absence seizures. The doctor gave me two options: take lamictal three times a day or switch to Lamictal XR. I thought there was only brand name lamictal XR so I opted for 3 times a day until I discovered lamotrigine ER a.k.a… read more

Seizure Medicaiton

Seizure Medicaiton

I’m on 3000mg of generic Keppra, and it’ll be increasing soon to 3500mg. If the increase doesn’t help with my seizures, they’re going to have me start Lamictal and lean me off of the Keppra. Has anyone had any experiences with Lamictal or leaning off one seizure medication to another?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member said:

Lamictal was the one that I had the least side effects with. Unfortunately, it didn’t work after a long period of time. Everyone is different of course. I’m getting of Keppra now. I switched to a… read more
