No matter what. Besides that any other days were:
missing sleep, like any less than 6 hours
missing a day of meds
drinking A DROP of alcohol
When I was still fairly new to it and still pretty young I was having about 1-2 every six months plus I was a lot more sensitive to triggering a seizure. I'm still technically sensitive to triggering a seizure but I think the time line these days is a lot longer and drawn out. these days it can take years. I have only just had a med change a few years ago so I still need to go 7 years plus to really say ok maybe I'm not going to just keep going through the cycle.
Keep your eye out for the little daily changes that can make a big difference. As long as you’re still taking meds, you always want to be ready to try doing such. I went 3 years taking too much medication - and I’d been completely out of it. I had been taking 11 a day; when I got down to 5 my jaw dropped as I was straight up shocked.
Yes and I’m lucky in comparison, that’s for sure. And it’s the same for me compared to those who suffer from such once a week. But the side effects from the med hit me ever so hard, that’s for sure. WHENEVER I am not having one.
I use to have an average of 1 seizure a day.
Oh now the meds I get? Can’t even name them from here at lunch, I know they’re a generic form. But I started off with 100mg of Tegretol back in ‘88. Until then, while growing up, I’d often get that funny feeling which turned out to be the aura for the seizures.
After starting meds and with any I’ve tried, the funny feeling stopped immediately. I had less seizures but that one day at the end of the month hit me every time. Eating lots and minimizing stress definitely helps, that’s for sure.
But it feels as if the side effects never will go away - and they hit me after starting meds in the late ‘80s. The very, very best I’ve felt since was after my only 4 straight weeks without taking any meds. And that was 2 weeks after the brain surgery! When the doctor informed me I still had epilepsy, I was straight up shocked. And though I have far less seizures, the side effects have definitely hit me harder.
