That is also how I tell if my dreams are real seizuresโฆ the bitten tongue/cheeks, and wet bed ( because I mostly lose bladder control during my seizures). My husband sometimes sleeps through my nighttime seizures but not usually because he says I make noises that wake him up. (Because I canโt breathe correctly).

Some sleep experiences that are easy to confuse with dreams or seizures include:
- Sleep paralysis โ a temporary inability to move or speak, sometimes with hallucinations
- Night terrors โ can cause confusion, fear, and strange movements
- Sleep-related hallucinations โ very vivid and feel completely real The tricky part is that these sleep experiences can overlap with actual nocturnal seizure symptoms, making it genuinely hard to tell them apart โ even for doctors.
The good news is that a neurologist can usually sort this out by reviewing medical history and running tests. A video EEG is particularly helpful for capturing what's actually happening in the brain during sleep.
It's definitely worth bringing this up at the next neurology appointment, especially since sleep disruption can sometimes trigger more seizure activity during the day.
