May want to talk to his neurologist or Epileptologist if he’s a candidate for alternative treatments like the VNS, RNS, DBS

May want to ask about seizure recovery meds. Like liquid Lorazepam. To stop uncontrollable seizures

Hallo Gina .. the suggestions listed above by MyEpilepsy Team be excellent .. giving hou a good start helping your son .. here be our 3 best tips ..
1) to help remember a person on here ., use their name in each post ., reread the message ., and the name .. helps the brain make a new memoryπŸ’œπŸ’™
2) carry little cards with you and a pen .. write down important stuff .. go over what you write down .. over and over ., this makes a new memory .. also put reminders on your phone he wilk need .. this reinforce the memory you just make ..
3) tnis be most important ., NEVER GIVE UP ., we have to fight hard to train our brain to remember .. this be way hard to do .. so not let your son quit .. help him by going over important stuff ., he CAN do this ., because you believe in him ., let him know you love him .. EVERY DAY .. because knowing he be loved will help him love himself .. and that will help him to keep going ..πŸ’œπŸ’™

It sounds like you're juggling a lot β€” caring for your son while also thinking about your own livelihood. That's a lot on one plate, and it makes complete sense to look for flexible work options.

Unfortunately, remote job searching falls outside of what can be helpfully covered here, but there's plenty of support available for your son's memory and sleep challenges related to epilepsy!

Memory problems and excessive sleep are common for people with epilepsy. Here are some strategies that may help your son:

- Write things down β€” encourage him to jot down important information after conversations or appointments
- Use memory-training techniques β€” working with an occupational therapist or speech-language pathologist can help build recall strategies
- Track sleep, food, triggers, and medications β€” a seizure diary or app can help identify patterns affecting his memory and sleep
- Talk to his neurologist β€” if medications may be contributing to memory issues or excessive sleepiness, his doctor may be able to adjust the dosage or try alternatives

Never adjust or stop medications without consulting his doctor first.

A MyEpilepsyTeam member shared that writing down important information after conversations is a helpful memory strategy. Small habits like this can make a real difference over time.
