Hallo Russell .. my wife Jen and me, William, be experiencig these dreams together ., our neurologist tell us the medical term for this be lucid dreams ., and it be rare for two to dream same dream together as we do ., it begin with us both waking at same time .. we be sitting up in our bed ., staring at the double closet doors directly across from us .. it be night when these occur ., the room be dark .. and the closet doors light up as a video game or other video .. there be music and voices of people in the video .. the dreams are always about those we know and love ., a dear friend .. our parents who have passed .. and often ourselves .. all the dreams involve solving a problem .. offering encouragement ., helping in some way .. always they be giving us answers to problems we be facing ., and many are visits with Jen's dear Mum .. who be very close to me as well .. our neurologists ask if we have these dreams separately ., and we do not .. we be fully alert .. watchig side by side ., and talking with each other .. as if we be watching a video ., these last but a few minutes ., and then video fade and closet doors reappear .. Jen and me talk over what we see .. some times logging it in a notebook Jen keep .. as we both journal ., unlike dreams ., we remember these.. and the answers we learn from them have helped us help those we see in them ., including us .. Jen and me be with each other since age 5 ., we be truly one .. snd doctor say we be having an extraordinary gift he call empathetic manifestation .. we be able in our minds to focus on the same tnoughts at the same time .. and that wake us to see the lucid dream .. as lucid means to be clear or to clarify .. we tnink this be a good name for it .. vivid dreams make sense too .. as the dreams we be having be vivid in colour ., beautiful to see.. some may say this be aura .. yet Jen not have epilepsy .. and I do not suffer seizure before .. after .. or during these lucid dreams .. so you not be alone Russell .. hugs and prayers from William and Jen💜💙🕊

Have you been experiencing vivid dreams that seem connected to an overwhelming urge to protect others, and are wondering if others with epilepsy have had similar experiences?

Vivid dreams can actually be linked to epilepsy in a few ways. Some people experience auras before seizures that include intense emotional feelings like fear or a strong sense of urgency — which could overlap with dream-like states.

Some things worth knowing:

- Certain anti-seizure medications can affect sleep patterns and dream intensity
- Emotional feelings of fear or the need to protect can sometimes be part of a seizure aura
- Sleep disturbances are common for people managing epilepsy

A MyEpilepsyTeam member described experiencing strong out-of-body feelings and a sense of foreboding, which shows how emotionally intense these experiences can be.

It would be really worth bringing this up with your neurologist, especially the vivid dreams and whether they might be connected to your seizure activity or your current medication. Keeping a dream and seizure journal could help identify any patterns to share with your doctor.

You're definitely not alone in feeling like different things seem tangled together — it can be a lot to sort through! 💙
