Members shared a range of personal experiences with Cenobamate (also known as Xcopri) in response to someone whose neurologist recommended switching from long-term phenytoin use. Several members reported challenging side effects including body rashes, headaches, rage, and extreme tiredness, while others found it to be an improvement over phenytoin, noting fewer and calmer seizures, longer auras, and even better memory. A recurring theme was that responses to Cenobamate vary greatly from person to person, with many encouraging the original poster to stay hopeful while also following their medical team's guidance.

My neurologist put me on Xcopri - that trial didn't last long. It's been a couple of years, but the thing that I remember most about it was the rash that I got. Everyone's different in one way or another, so it may work for you. But in my case, I stuck with my Dilantin, even though she was not the first neuro. who tried to get me off of it.
