Members offered helpful advice for someone dealing with a mail-order pharmacy being out of stock on a controlled substance, with the most common suggestion being to contact a local pharmacy like CVS or Walgreens for a short-term supply. Several members shared that reaching out to their doctor right away was key, as the doctor can send an electronic prescription to a local pharmacy to bridge the gap. A recurring theme was that staying in close contact with both the prescribing specialist and a nearby pharmacy helped resolve the situation quickly and with less stress.

The Neurologist sent in the electronic script to the local pharmacy. It will be ready at 5 pm today!

I've had that problem. You can go to a local pharmacy and ask for a few days supply.

I do agree, local pharmacy is the best way to obtain as they can obtain from nearby Example, Walgreens can obtain from another Walgreens so you do have what is needed for a few days. If you are aware of estimated timing for arrival of medication I would let your specialist be aware of this Monday morning so a backup plan can be made if necessary. If not aware of that time, I would find out then still reach out to your specialist Monday morning and provide them with an update on this issue so they are aware of the situation. I wish you the best on this issue and do hope it gets taken care of soon!

How about trying this: getting Your medication at the hospital? A number of hospitals now have their own pharmacy. The Dr. can sit at their desk, make decisions about medications to take, etc, type that into their connection they have with the pharmacy. Just go to the pharmacy in the hospital it is usually ready.

I had that same situation happen to me recently, I got intact with my Dr. and got things taken care of. Makes me somewhat aggravated having to deal with such.
