Members connected over the shared struggle of bad memory and memory loss that comes with epilepsy, offering reassurance that it is a common and understood part of living with the condition. Several members shared that both seizures themselves and medications like Dilantin can contribute to memory problems, insomnia, and gaps in recalling important life events like school years. A recurring theme was community solidarity, with many reminding each other not to feel alone or ashamed, as these challenges are simply part of navigating life with epilepsy.

I don't recall most of my High school & college years, only a few things, now I have fewer issues. Some of it had to do with medication issues and a lot of it was the epilepsy itself.

Unfortunately, bad memory and memory loss comes with the territory of having seizures, whether it seizures themselves or the medication’s and or when the seizures are not controlled, or you have multiple different types of seizures, you can have bad memory and memory loss

Generally when I have a seizure, I don’t remember it and when I was going to school, I might stay up late studying but then I would have a seizure during my sleep and not remember anything that I had stayed up studying
