Members shared their personal experiences with whether their eyes stay open or closed during seizures, responding to a question about managing temporal lobe and complex partial seizures. Many community members described having no awareness or control over their eyes during seizures, with several noting they were told by family or partners that their eyes were open, sometimes with eyes rolled back. A recurring theme was that those who remained partially conscious preferred keeping their eyes open to maintain awareness and balance, while others shared that seizure type, whether focal, grand mal, or nocturnal, seemed to affect what happened naturally.

I couldn't tell you because my seizures just happen so I either wake up feeling like my head has been hit by a bus or I'm picking myself up off the ground

I keep mine open now or for the last few years, I felt closing them if I was standing I'd lose my balance and fall what occurred when I was younger, Thanks for all your support πŸ™.

Hallo Babs .. my Jen tell me my eyes be open during daytime seizures .. with CIRE seizures my eyes be open as I be aware and awake during them .. with nocturnal seizures they be closed as I be asleep ., even when my heart stop and Jen must do CPR to restart my heart .. my eyes remain closed ., yet when heart restart I jump a bit and my eyes flash open .. then close again .. and I still be asleep throughout all this ., be totally weird to watch .. Jen take video once whilst her Mum do CPR as I want to be seeing me ., that bit when my eyes flash open is scary weird and give me chills watching it .. to think this what my Jen must see every time she do this for me makes me cry.. talk about quiet love .. this sure be ultimate example of thatπŸ’œπŸ’™πŸ˜πŸ˜’πŸ•Š..
