Do you sometimes feel nervous or anxious without an obvious reason?

Yes, this is something many people with epilepsy experience. Stress and anxiety can be both a trigger for seizures and a result of living with epilepsy. The uncertainty of when a seizure might happen can create ongoing worry and fear.

Some people describe feeling spaced out, experiencing forced thinking, or having a sense of dread - which can actually be part of an aura or partial seizure. These feelings might seem to come out of nowhere but could be related to your epilepsy.

Living with epilepsy naturally creates stress from:
* Fear of having seizures in public or unsafe situations
* Worry about being taken to the emergency department
* Concern about being a burden on loved ones
* Uncertainty about what triggers your seizures

It's important to recognize when anxiety or nervousness becomes persistent enough to need professional support. These feelings can evolve over time, and what you're experiencing is valid.

If stress seems to make your seizure activity worse, talk with your neurologist about strategies to manage both the anxiety and its potential impact on your seizures.
