I am 57 years old, developed seizures after a car accident in my thirties. I have medication and a VNS. These things assist, yes, and I am thankful. I imagine always where I would have been in my career ladder. I was a business accountant.

Members responded thoughtfully to a question about whether brain science will advance enough in their lifetimes, with many expressing cautious hope based on how far epilepsy treatment has already come. Several members shared personal milestones like donating their bodies or participating in research studies, while one member living with seizures is actively pursuing a career in neuroscience. A recurring theme was gratitude for current treatments alongside a realistic acceptance that full understanding of the brain may never come, paired with encouragement to keep fighting and living fully.

Not my lifetime . But I can see it possibly happing in a future lifetime.

What lifetime is a whole other question

I have three different types of seizures, but I am also in college to eventually become a medical research scientist/neurosurgeon. I do plan on studying quite a lot in order to understand the human brain as much as I possibly can. So, hopefully there will be a better understanding throughout society eventually in my lifetime 😊
