I never heard of this medicine Xcoprt. Has this medicine been out for a short and/or long time? I guess this medicine is a medicine that’s been out and I hope it’ll be a great help. We all are more common of Lamictal, Keppra and many other meds

Members responded to a question about Xcopri (Cenobamate), sharing that it is a relatively new medication approved by the FDA in May 2020 and available in the EU in 2021 and Canada in 2023. Several members described mixed experiences, with some reporting significant seizure reduction while others stopped taking it due to side effects like nausea, drowsiness, and rashes, and those with cardiac conditions were advised against it. A recurring theme was that every person responds differently to epilepsy medications, and members encouraged checking with doctors and looking into manufacturer assistance programs given the high cost.

Xcopri came on the market as of May 2020 by FDA approval. (FDA) I began taking Xcopri November 2022 at the general dosage of 50 mg with my other night medications. The medication has been helpful for my situation.

On a side note about Xcopri...we attempted an increase of Xcopri by 25 mg in the morning hours even though the increase did begin working it didn't last for long. What began taking place is I would stay drowsy until about the time for the second dose. With that being said, the morning 1/2 dose was removed so I went back to my general 50 mg allowing my system to "wake up" and not be so drowsy.

Since I have medication resistence, the low dose works best on merely all medications I take as we discovered like this one. Hope the above information helps.

Xcopri it's a relatively recent drug. In the US it has become available in the second quarter of 2020 and in the European Union in first quarter of 2021, being approved in Canada in 2023.
