Members shared varied experiences with hemiparesis after living with epilepsy for 20+ years, with some reporting no weakness at all while others described significant one-sided weakness following seizures, brain bleeds, or surgeries. Several members detailed specific symptoms including leg weakness, facial drooping, post-ictal paralysis lasting hours or days, and right-side dominance making left-handed tasks nearly impossible. A recurring theme was resilience and hope despite the physical challenges, with members encouraging each other to stay strong, see doctors about new symptoms, and never give up.

I’ve had epilepsy for 30+ years, never even making it 2 straight months seizure free, and I’ve never noticed one side of my body being weaker than the other.

Yes I have hemiparesis on my right side. It first happened when I was 18 . But my arm recovered but not my leg. Then again after my 2nd brain bleed ( age 46) happened on my whole right side. It was from a brain bleed 2x. Plus the 3 brain surgeries made me weaker. But I still have hope. Not giving up. Hope you are well. Have you been diagnosed with hemiparesis? If not and you feel like you have it maybe see your doctor. Just some thoughts.

Oh, I’m okay. I understand how living with epilepsy is difficult as I’ve been doing it for 34 years. It’s good you have ways to keep you busy. Reading is something that I definitely can’t do as I have temporal lobe seizures. If I read something I’m just staring at words because I can’t remember or comprehend anything. Before I had seizures I could read a story and tell my mom everything about it but the very moment I started having seizures I no longer could/can remember any of it. My mom read every book I had to read in high school and she helped me with my homework. So I basically do things on my I-Pad as well as research. You can tell by My Story that I’ve researched a lot about my epilepsy. Everything I do has to be at home because I can’t drive. I’m into drawing and fishing as well so here’s a little combination of them both.
