Are you experiencing side effects from clobazam?

Clobazam (Onfi, Sympazan) is a benzodiazepine sedative used to treat certain types of seizures, including myoclonic seizures and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Like other anti-seizure medications, it can cause side effects.

Common side effects of clobazam and similar medications include:

* Drowsiness
* Dizziness
* Appetite changes, weight loss, or upset stomach
* Mood changes
* Problems with memory or attention
* Vision changes

These side effects are especially common in the first few weeks of use. If you're experiencing bothersome side effects, it's important to talk with your neurologist. They may be able to adjust your dosage or suggest ways to manage the symptoms.

Many MyEpilepsyTeam members have found that even slight adjustments to their medication doses can significantly improve side effects while still controlling seizures effectively.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member - I take Keppra 750mg 2X day and 5mg Clobazam 1X day. It's working well for me. For a short while I was on 10mg Clobazam 1X day and I was "like a zombie". Research the history of Clobazam as it is quite interesting: when it was developed, what it was developed for, when they started using it for seizures and for what types of seizures. I have different types of seizures which is why I think the Clobazam is working well for me.

Oh she for sure should NOT be on both benzos - that’s crazy! I’m glad you got away from that doctor! Ask her about sleeping. If she’s dreaming a lot of various dreams she’s probably waking up a lot during the night and it can take a toll. Briviact does that also so I take Doxepin 3mg to keep me in a nice deep sleep. The melatonin actually wears off and makes getting good rest worse. I started having seizures when I was 10 and went on Keppra and my doctor would always ask “How’s your sleeping? Are you waking up a lot with nightmares?” Since I had 0 stress at that age I was OK, but now at 43 life is more stressful and murder shows are abundant and I dream like crazy! Plus I get up to pee more often. 😜 I hope she has a good week starting today!
