I'm a diabetic. Most likely they'll start you with Metformin, a change of diet, and adding exercise if you're not already doing it. Metformin did very little for me, so they added Jardiance, which helped but my A1C suddenly spiked and my weight loss had stopped.

I had been walking 5Ks and eating high protein and lots of fruits and vegetables. I cut out all the pop, sugar, candy, and carbs. He eventually added Mounjaro for the weight loss and my A1C is down to 5.3, at one time it was around 10, 8.3 before I started the Mounjaro. That was a year ago, the 5.3 A1C was in December. I'm 100 lbs lighter than 3 years ago, 57 lbs lighter than a year ago.

I feel so much better, now I need to do some strength training to get back in shape.

TinaG my hemoglobin came back high say I’m pre-diabetes . I’m gonna go back to this doctor in the fifth of next month after going to one this week so I’m guessing that’s gonna be a game plan on what to do.

Are epilepsy and diabetes connected?

Yes, there is a connection between epilepsy and type 1 diabetes. Research shows that about 1 out of every 80 people with type 1 diabetes also has epilepsy. This is almost three times higher than in people without diabetes, showing a strong link between the two conditions.

Scientists believe that changes in how the brain uses energy — especially during low blood sugar episodes — might explain the connection between these conditions.

It's good that your doctor is testing you, especially since you're experiencing symptoms like blurry vision. Managing both conditions together is important, as blood sugar changes can potentially affect seizure control.

More than 1,400 MyEpilepsyTeam members report living with multiple conditions alongside their epilepsy, so you're definitely not alone in managing more than one health concern.

TomWMorgan, i’m right there with you buddy do the fact epilepsy is not my main condition actually hydrocephalus, which is water on the brain. I was born with it as an infant, so yeah, the two of the combination of the two is very much a challenge for me the last thing I need is to have diabetes develop on me too.

I fortunately, never had diabetes. I have had my share of challenges though. Starting off with heart surgery as a kid, then finding out I have epilepsy in the same year.

Those of you who do have diabetes....I feel for you.

Well my friends, have a good day. From a fellow Warrior and friend,
