Don’t know what type of cough you’re having. Whether it’s from the VNS. Or other reasons.. hearing you mention about coughing up mucus , I was starting to wonder if you’re experiencing bronchitis.

But when it comes to coughing with bronchitis, it’s much different than coughing from the VNS

The VNS never made me cough up mucus

Yes, the mucus in the lungs has to be expelled, and that means a deeper and more intense effort to maintain our breathing. But if you don’t feel like you’re getting better, then I would make an appt with your doctor.

Are brain aneurysm symptoms the same as epilepsy symptoms, and what should you do when you're sick with a VNS?

It sounds like you're dealing with a lot right now - being sick since Christmas Eve with vomiting, coughing up mucus, neck issues, and a headache is really tough, especially when you have epilepsy and a VNS.

First, it's important to know that being sick with a virus can actually be a seizure trigger for some people with epilepsy. When you're vomiting and can't keep food down, you risk becoming dehydrated and potentially throwing up your anti-seizure medications, which could affect your seizure control.

You should call your doctor right away because:
- Viral infections can trigger seizures
- Vomiting may prevent you from keeping your medications down
- They can prescribe medication to help control the nausea and vomiting
- Stress from being sick can also lower your seizure threshold

Regarding your neck acting "crazy" and your headache - these symptoms need medical attention, especially combined with your other symptoms. While stress and being sick can cause headaches, any new or concerning symptoms should be evaluated by your healthcare team.

Don't try to tough this out alone. Your feelings are valid, and getting proper medical care will help both your physical symptoms and your peace of mind.

See a doctor about all of this. I have a cold also but it is not bad. I also had a small aneurysm after one of my brain surgery which dissipated. I was on meds for that. I don’t remember if they affected my seizures. I hope you find some answers.
