Have you experienced vision changes like blindness or freeze frame effects during your focal seizures?

Yes, vision changes during seizures are a recognized symptom. During focal seizures, people can experience temporary vision changes including:

- Hallucinations
- Partial loss of vision
- Visual disturbances

These vision changes are particularly common in occipital seizures (seizures affecting the occipital lobe of the brain), such as focal sensory visual seizures. The good news is that these vision changes are typically temporary.

During focal aware seizures, you remain conscious and aware of what's happening, which might explain why you're noticing these specific visual symptoms. Some people describe feeling "frozen" during these episodes, which could relate to the freeze frame sensation you're experiencing.

The symptoms you experience depend on where in your brain the seizure starts and how it spreads. Since vision is processed in specific brain regions, seizures affecting those areas can cause the blindness or visual disruptions you're describing.

I have blackout type seizures . For awhile, I thought it was side effects from my meds . In 2022 my Dr. had me do a few pretest before before my DBS was put in. One of the pretest was my impatient EEG. I asked my Dr. to check for seizures during my blackouts . I wanted to know if I was experienced medication side effects or if it was a type of seizure. Sure enough I found out that they were a type of seizure..

So keep in mind, even though you may be experienced blur vision, double vision blackouts doesn’t truly mean be a type of procedure. It could be a side effect from your meds..
