My seizures get are getting worse and I'm going older is there any coralilation between the two.
Hi my friends
at epilepsy team.
No not for me,I'm 58 yrs old and have epilepsy since 1986.
I was 18 yrs old and was involved in a motor car accident. My sezures were
terrible in my 20's cause I still drank alcohol and smoked cigarettes. I
used to get a fit then I would fell down, bit my tongue, foam comes out of
my mouth, pee myself wet, when I comes by my head feels like someone just
hit with a hammer or an axe against my head, then I'm still in another
world for about 3 days
But I carried on living a life like there's nothing wrong with me,but I
never miss or skip my medication but still drinking and smoking. Got
married in 1999 and after 3 yrs decided to quit(stop) drinking alcohol but
still kept on smoking.
My seizures were still hectic but no more foaming or biting of my tongue
and urinating.
I would only fall down and my body would jerk or shakes, all my mussels
would pull stiff. Still not myself for 2 to 3 days.
I quit smoking after a couple of years and my seizures became less, but I
still feel like epilepsy took over my life, cause everywhere I worked I was
a danger to myself and my fellow employees,
In my mid 50's I realised that everytime I get cross,or anger works up in
me,I get frustrated, being that horrible person I would get n seizure,1 or
2 a day,my body would still jerk.
I decided to go on my knees and ask God to help me and make a better person
of me. I also thank God every day for taking alcohol, cigarettes and that
anger and bitterness away from me.
I'm still thinking, maybe God gave me epilepsy,so that I myself would make a
better person of myself, cause if I get a seizure now, I will only have a
black-out and moan for about a couple of seconds,I'll wake up and if my
wife don't tell me I got sick I wouldn't know,it happens ones a month,
mostly in the middle of the night when I'm sleeping, sometimes my wife
forgets to tell me I got sick the way it's not such a big issue anymore.
Never forget to prayer to the Lord and thank Him for He's done to your
life, there's a purpose and a reason for everything and it happened to me.🙏
I think mine are a bit more frequent, but I only have a seizure every 2-3 years. My seizures used to happen at midday. My seizures are now at night. My doctor and I believe the change was due to hormonal changes.
I'm now 68 and had epilepsy for 52 years. My focal seizures are worse now than 7 years ago and frequency has also increased. I put this down to changes in hormones, weather patterns, anxiety levels and more.
For myself ( I’m 50 ) my seizures have lessened in frequency and reduced in the amounts I have . All thru the help of the DBS .
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I don't really think there's still any definite answer to this. The only real way to answer it is if you got diagnosed young and have always had very good control then its very unlikely there would be any change. But if things have always been up and down then it would be unknown how the long-term outlook. would go.
