I dread and abhor this time of year. I always have. I put on my mask and soldier through it with an ache in my chest. If I could crawl in a hole and cover myself up, you wouldn't see me from November to February. This isn't so much from epilepsy, but more from the abuse I suffered as a child. I have CPTSD from a mentally ill mother and older brother. Holidays of my youth were torture, and I'm apparently hard-wired this way from so many years of it. Yes, I see a psychologist, it helps, but there's no erasing what happened to me. The dread and ache are still there.

Christmas when I was a kid I used to go to the hospital gift shop and buy people in my family presents. I saved up my allowance and was constantly in and out of the hospital fighting epilepsy or an injury due to epilepsy. I am so thankful those times are past me.

I always consider the memories I have as a child with My Parents, Grandparents, Aunt and Uncle. Remember the tinsel on the Christmas tree and the Nativity scene under the tree with a big star above it. I love those memories 🎄
