Have you heard of neurofeedback and its effects on epilepsy?
Neurofeedback isn't mentioned in the current epilepsy treatment guidelines or research summaries available. The established treatment approaches for epilepsy include:
* Anti-seizure medications (ASMs)
* Brain stimulation therapies like vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), responsive neurostimulation (RNS), and deep brain stimulation (DBS)
* Epilepsy surgery for drug-resistant cases
* Dietary therapies like the ketogenic diet or modified Atkins diet
* Rescue medications for breakthrough seizures
While neurofeedback has been explored in various neurological contexts, it's not currently recognized as a standard or evidence-based treatment option for epilepsy. If you're interested in exploring alternative or complementary approaches, it's important to discuss them with your neurologist first.
They can help you understand how any new approach might interact with your current treatment plan and whether it's safe to try alongside your existing therapies. The priority remains preventing uncontrolled seizures through proven treatment methods.

It could change your life, man! Neurofeedback basically trains your brain to not have seizures anymore. I have had it, and it works. I just couldn't afford to keep it at the time. (Now my doctor won't recommend it because, like most neurologists, she thinks she and her "buddies" won't be needed anymore!) Such is life...

Never heard of it and would not try it. I would rather stick to the options known.
