I think I in my opinion would do both, I have worked in society with my condition and it was ok with that and didn't mind doing it,e as for if it was for a place that would be just for the condition I have and was given a job there instead of the society one mentioned here,I would do that also, I am ok with either of those… read more

I worked in a veterinary hospital and never had any problems with people respecting the work I was doing. When I had seizures at work, everyone was very calm and looked after me. They would usually build a bed around me and when I came to that was always so comforting. In veterinary medicine we were used to seeing seizures in the animals, so my co-workers knew what to expect.

I would get put in one the areas where I chose to be on my Application when applying for the job. Sometime I would be a Floater between the areas I applied for.

Would you prefer working in a specialized workplace for people with epilepsy, or in a regular workplace with accommodations?

Your openness to both options shows a great perspective! Many people with epilepsy successfully work in regular workplaces when they receive the respect and understanding they deserve.

In the U.S., the Americans With Disabilities Act protects workers with epilepsy from discrimination. Employers with 15+ employees are required to provide reasonable accommodations to help you do your job safely and effectively.

What matters most is finding the right fit for you:

* A supportive work environment where you feel comfortable
* Respectful coworkers and supervisors who understand your needs
* Necessary accommodations if seizures affect your work
* A role that aligns with your abilities and goals

Some people choose to disclose their epilepsy to access accommodations, while others prefer privacy. There's no single "right" answer - it depends on your seizure control, workplace culture, and personal comfort level.

The key is that you have options and legal protections, whether that's in a specialized setting or a traditional workplace. What works best varies from person to person based on their specific situation.
