And the doctor told me that it could possibility longer than that . I have three small children so I need to be able to get around so I don't know what to do. I don't mind paying someone to drive me somewhere but I like to be independent too

I’m in my 40’s and haven’t driven a single time my whole life. My epilepsy started when I was 10 years old

I was never able to drive for almost 15 years, while they figured out how to control my seizures. I am now more than 11 years seizure-free with brain surgery. I am back to driving, and I am now working on my Master's degree. I am also working on a book about my journey.

I live in a small town in Alabama and all I have to depend on is. my family to take me places if needed. the rule for Alabama is 6 months or longer before and approved by a doctor to get your driver's license back but you can't have any seizures within that time. It's just hard right now it's going to take some time or not but I got my family and my kids and God on my side.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , Here in Texas we must go 3 months without driving after a seizure. You could contact your local Epilepsy Foundation & see what they could suggest as far as transportation goes. Years ago my Dad had a seizure while driving & hit a fence & got a black eye & lost his license. He had bad grand mal seizures. I don’t know if he could’ve possibly gotten his license back down the road or if just chose not to being that his seizures were so bad. Just be cautious when driving, especially since you have kids & you don’t want to have a seizure on the road & hurt someone else. Hang in there. Your friend in Texas, Becky

I lived in a city about ten years ago. The city had transportation for seniors. Since I had Epilepsy and couldn't drive I was able to use that transportation as well!!
