It can depend on the type of seizure you have, the medications you are taking for your seizures. Are the medication side effects giving you panic attacks, anxiety or both.

Yes, epilepsy can increase anxiety and panic attacks, including those that occur at night. People with epilepsy are at higher risk of experiencing anxiety symptoms, which can create a challenging cycle - anxiety about having seizures can itself trigger more anxiety.

Many people with epilepsy report increased social anxiety and panic symptoms, particularly around the fear of having seizures in public or while sleeping. Sleep issues common in epilepsy, like nocturnal seizures and disrupted sleep patterns, can worsen anxiety symptoms at night. If you're experiencing increased anxiety or panic attacks, it's important to discuss this with your healthcare provider. Mental health treatment through medication, therapy, or a combination of both can help manage these symptoms while also potentially improving your overall epilepsy management. Your healthcare team can work with mental health professionals to develop an appropriate treatment plan that addresses both conditions.

Since I had surgery in January to help with my seizures, I have not been having any issues with my anxiety and panic attacks. I believe that it’s because the surgery was successful and I have not been having any breakthrough issues since then. But I will say that seizures, anxiety and panic attacks are related to each other and that one may cause an issue with the others
God bless you
