Question: How does metabolism and age affect epilepsy management?

Yes, metabolism plays an important role in epilepsy management. Your body's metabolic processes can affect how medications work and how seizures manifest. Some MyEpilepsyTeam members have found that maintaining balanced blood sugar levels and eating frequent small meals high in protein and healthy fats helps manage their symptoms. Everyone's epilepsy journey is different, and it's excellent that you're tracking your symptoms and medication effects. Managing epilepsy often requires ongoing adjustments as your body changes over time. Key factors to monitor include:

- Sleep patterns
- Stress levels
- Diet and nutrition
- Daily activities that might trigger seizures
- Medication effectiveness and side effects

Your approach to tracking your health status (70% overall wellness) shows good self-awareness, which is valuable for long-term condition management.

Another factor in your health is weight. The less you weigh, the more effective your medication is. So by getting exercise will help your metabolism and losing weight. A good healthy diet with protein, fresh fruits and vegetables, low carbs, and no sugars will help.
