@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Not really. It just depends what meds your on and how they work. Its mainly meds that go through the liver that need it. The other reason could be if you have just recently changed meds and they need to keep monitoring your levels in the short term to see how everything is going. Thats where I'm at now. Currently I get blood tests every 6 months but there's a huge change it will change to 12 months then from there it may not even be needed.

It's completely normal for doctors to request additional blood work between regular appointments. These tests help monitor medication levels, check overall health, and catch any potential issues early. While routine visits are important, sometimes additional monitoring is needed to ensure your treatment plan is working effectively. To stay organized with unexpected appointments and tests, consider:
- Keeping a log of all tests and their results
- Asking your doctor about the specific purpose of each test
- Recording any questions that come up between appointments
- Bringing test results to your regular check-ups

This helps create a complete picture of your health for your healthcare team to review during scheduled visits.

If I get any tests or blood work done by my Epileptologist It’s planned on the day I visit her. The blood work is usually done after my Dr. and I have talked . The Tests are usually planned for for an available future date.
