Hi @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , Welcome to the site! I agree that Vitamin D might be good & I say that because after being on long term use of my Depakote, around 2015 there was a new Neurologist I had started seeing & he asked if I was aware that long term use could possibly cause Osteoporosis & I said no & so he had me do a bone density test & it showed that I have Osteopenia in my left hip & he suggested I take Vitamin D & my current Neurologist still has me taking the Vitamin D. I also take a Multivitamin. One time my blood work showed my Vitamin D was a little high but I was taking the Vitamin D every night as well as the Multivitamin & so we discussed for me to take the Vitamin D maybe every other day or something. But that’s my experiences with those. Others on here take different vitamins as well. Again, Welcome. Your friend in Texas, Becky
I take a B complex and Magnesium. I don't need to take Vitamin D as a live in a hot climate so I can get from the sun pretty easily.
Vitamin D appears to be particularly important for people with epilepsy. It helps your muscles move, allows nerves to send signals properly, and supports immune system function. There are two main types:
- Vitamin D2: Found in plants, mushrooms, and yeast
- Vitamin D3: Found in oily fish and produced by your body during sun Show Full Answer
Good post and ?, I think it's dif per person, I used to take multi vitamins, but on occasion, I wasn't told by my doc about having to go to that, I usually get my vitamin and such from food and natural resources and such etc, but ask about from people here their opinion on the post here and that is ok with, and then go to your doc about the situation at hand and go from there, my opinion and good luck with your outcome
Folic acid , multi vitamins , D3 , calcium ,
