No, Chris, I had nothing like that. After my resection surgery in 2002 I had an infection that made my recovery take longer than expected. In 22 years they must have improved brain surgery, or I just got lucky.
They do neuropsychological tests before and after surgery and I did the same or better afterwards. I think that’s because I had less stress afterwards.
As for hemorrhaging, I had no internal bleeding and the holes were stapled and shut so there wasn’t any bleeding outside my head either.
Hi Chris. I had the SEEG surgery in November 2024. They do put electrodes in your brain, but they are very thin. Each one is thinner than a piece of spaghetti.
However, they tie up the wires outside your head like a ponytail, and I was forbidden from sleeping on my right side.
I never thought about it, but you will have a second surgery for the doctor to take the electrodes out. That’s under general anesthesia too.
I chose to have my whole head shaved, but I’ve heard some people do not.
The recovery was easy and not as painful as everyone who asked me about it thought it would be. All told I missed 6 full weeks of work. The first 2 in the hospital and the rest recovering at home.
I hope this helps.
