I was diagnosed with mesial temporal sclerosis in the right hippocampus at 42 yo. Docter assumed that it was caused by accident I was involved in. Are tonic-clonic normal. I would say have 80% tonic-clonic seizures and 20% absence seizures. 1 site say are rare for tonic seizures

Tonic-clonic seizures are actually one of the most commonly recognized types of seizures in epilepsy. They can occur due to brain injury or structural damage, which aligns with your doctor's assessment about your accident potentially causing the condition.

During a tonic-clonic seizure, you may experience a warning sign called an aura beforehand. The seizure itself happens in two phases: first the tonic phase where your body stiffens and you may lose consciousness, followed by the clonic phase with jerking movements. Absence seizures, which you mentioned experiencing 20% of the time, are characterized by brief lapses in consciousness. During these episodes, you might stare blankly and may not remember what happened afterward. These episodes typically last less than 30 seconds and can occur multiple times per day.

It's completely normal to experience both types of seizures. Each person's epilepsy pattern is unique, and having a combination of seizure types is not unusual.

I have Temporal Lobe seizures in my 40’s. My seizures start on the left side of my brain but expand to both sides.

I'm pretty sure it depends on what stage the MTS is at as they are all different. If its early stage you would be more prone to get Focal seizures with rare TC seizures but if it was further stage you would get more common TC seizures.
