Yes I have had almost a dozen blood transfusions. It does help. Can you eat food with iron in it? The iron pills made me sick too. I had heavy times of the month and thank goodness no more. My mom was anemic her whole life so I guess I inherited it. I was told that iron is an essential component of my health so I ate things with iron and took the pills . Hope everything goes well for you.

If you're experiencing symptoms of anemia (like fatigue, weakness, or dizziness) alongside your epilepsy, it's important to get checked out by your doctor. They can order appropriate blood tests and determine if there's any relationship between these conditions in your specific case. Many MyEpilepsyTeam members have shared experiences about managing multiple health conditions alongside their epilepsy. Working closely with your healthcare team is the best way to develop an appropriate treatment plan that addresses all of your health concerns.
