I have not worked since 2017 but I am looking for a new job I can do from home. Should I tell my next employer that I have epileosy in case I have a seizure at home and have to end my day early or take a break duing the day.
What do you think?

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, Yes, it is protected by the ADA, but there are ALWAYS loopholes around it. They can always fire you and give another reason why they fired you. It would be really hard to prove they fired you ONLY because of Epilepsy versus another reason. UNLESS you worked there long enough for the reason they give was documented and proves you shouldn't have been fired for that reason.

Since you are going for work from home I would get the job first. Once it is in place then present the FMLA paperwork to your employer. FMLA will cover you in the event you need time off in the event of episodes. I worked in call centers for years and there were days I knew I just couldn't do it. FMLA ptotected my job. You have up to 12 weeks of leave that you can take if needed. You do have to have at least 1250 hours worked before you can utilize FMLA unless the particular employer rules differ. This paperwork will generally have to be renewed each year by your doctor. You can verify requirements with your employer. Hope this helps!

Yes, and if you don’t, be sure that your co workers know in case of emergency and they know how to react
