I Have To Stay About A Week At The End Of The Month For A EEG And EKG . Are U Allowed To Use The Bathroom Or Is It Bedpan Time?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question šŸ’

I hate bedpans. I was so nervous about not being able to use the bathroom. My bowels are just becoming normal again. I have to stay in the hospital a 5 day week. Can someone let me know?

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , In the Seizure Unit at the Hospital, the EEG wires connected to an Electric box. On the other side of this electrical box , a long Extension cord is connected to it. The opposite end of the Extension cord , is connected to the EEG system in my room. I would carry the long cord outside my room. When moving around the Facility, it would unwind . When I would go back to my room, I would wind the cord back up,

So when I leave my room Iā€™m carrying the EEG Electrode wires , the Electric box.and the tailing of the Extension cord.

Hope this makes sense to you

Thanks for all your answers. Even a bedside commode is better than just laying there and doing your business in bed. I hope I am able to wipe myself. Some nurses don't make me feel clean and I can't relax.

Like everyone else, they would let me walk to the bathroom but someone was right there to keep an eye on me.

This one was a full range EEG study ordered by my neuro. He was trying to see if they could trigger seizures, spot a focal point, and establish whether I was a candidate for DBS.
I'm already on a high dose of four different meds plus have a VNS implant so he was running a set of tests to check criteria for a different treatment as my side effect reactions to the meds are reaching levels that adding to them might be dangerous.
I think he thinks that DBS might be possible...not sure yet how I feel about it?
