Tegretol Shortage
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Is anyone else finding it impossible to get hold of tegretol 400mg prolonged release tablets? I'm getting really stressed out and worried as I have rang round so many pharmacies and no where has it in stock. The epilepsy website says stocks are back in but can take weeks for pharmacies to get their stocks back up. I don't know what to do.

It stinks that you have to go through all of this extra stress and unknown. Sounds a lot like epilepsy itself. You appear to be a true fighter, and fighters don't give up. I'm so sorry for the unprofessional, inhuman treatment that you received from your Dr. That would have knocked me down right there! We all know the importance of having our medication every 12 hours and I can't imagine how it feels to be in your shoes. I think that the advice you got to contact The Epilepsy Foundation is spot on! The best of luck to you and we are all in your corner 💜.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , Try contacting your local Epilepsy Foundation & let them know what’s going on & see if they can help you. You can either go to www.epilepsy.com & look up your local Epilepsy Foundation information or go to www.Google.com & type in something like “Epilepsy Foundation in .....” & type in the city & state or area you live & see what Epilepsy programs come up. Good luck. Your in Texas, Becky

It depends on what it is. If it is a Controlled Substance like Vimpat, it only goes by the date

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Thats pretty annoying. The way the Scripts work in Aus you have a set date you are allowed to go and refill but I think there is a week or 2 either side. Generally, if you're a day early the pharmacy can just take the script any way, but they may charge more. A few times I have put scrips in and they have been out and I've had to come back in a few days. These days I try to put mine in when I get down to 2 cards.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I think Jimi may have a very good point. leaving the Eu seems to of really hurt the Med supply in the UK. If there is no or hardly and shortages going on in EU countries, then this is a Brexit issue. There are Med supply issues in Aus as well but not as bad as the UK.
