Best sides of any AEDs is to control the nasty seizures the best way. Glad we live in first century thru history to explain epilepsy with meds to help.Ease mind bout med sides any bad ones Dr will simply take you off it.Geniuses thru history had seizures but no idea why. Big diff is we know its a physical not mental condition with meds to help. In my 50yrs of epilepsy seen more for all types. Weird how some are so anti-med instead

I would look up the side effects online, on a website listing the particulars of the drug (brand name โ€œDepakoteโ€). I just looked it up, and for men, the maximum dosage is listed, along with the instructions for the doctor administering it: that the patient should have periodic blood tests, to test the blood level of the medication, and liver and pancreatic enzyme levels, to monitor for damage. It says that prolonged exposure can cause liver dysfunction. But go and look it up, in one of the various articles which I found on Google. It may be that your doctor needs to consider a new medication.

It has 4 possible long-term side effects them being -Hepatotoxicity, Pancreatitis, decreased bone mineral density, and cognitive development. Things to keep an eye out for first and get ER treatment are hives, difficult breathing, swelling of throat or face, a skin rash, fever sore throat, burning eyes, skin pain, or skin turning red or purple with blistering or peeling. Don't worry about side effects of any med may be very very rare! I say that because the way they register side effects something that happened, during testing of millions if not billions of people. Those people are assigned to tell of one little thing changed over long period of time taking that med. They need to put anything one-person reports. That is then taken to the DEA to see percentage be extremely rare or not harmful before permitted be used by public. I know this being on experimental meds myself in the past. There is one side effect that is in almost all meds such as drowsiness in almost every med. To get great detail of what the chance is of having one of the side effect of a med is talk to your doc.
