What Do You Do To Keep Yourself Awake During The Day
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I fell asleep yesterday just before I was about to eat, I missed eating and taking my medication, then when I woke up over two hours later I took my medication, then I had a fall over on the floor found it hard to get up, I missed eating.

I have a 25minute siesta every afternoon after lunch.

I try doing alot of walking. Even if it's around the house. I also keep my mind active by doing word puzzles or even some mind games on my phone. I also do some knitting and crocheting that keeps my mind active.

Projects. I usually plan for them the day before. "Tomorrow I'm going to..." and I follow through. For myself it's either related to the arts or repairing something I'd been putting off. I'll also get out of the house to peruse yard or estate sales. I am retired, so there are days I relent, make a one-hour opening, and take a nap. It helps. Forcing my way through a project works too. Once I'm focused, I'm relentless. Today I have a song to learn, a snow-blower engine carburetor build, installation and tune up, and reorganization of my stage gear for a larger venue I'm playing on Friday. I write down ideas for things I need to order from Amazon for next week's plans. I figure "Move it or lose it". My daytime fatigue now is nothing close to the fatigue I suffered all my life because of sleep apnea. Waking up 45 times/hour and never getting quality sleep for years was wayyy worse. Kudos to my epileptologist for ordering my sleep study at diagnosis and addressing it. Maybe you might have an additional underlying problem with nighttime sleep? Just something to consider.
