Hi @A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , I’m 45 & have had seizures since the 2nd grade after hitting my head on the monkey bars but no one knows for sure if I got them from that, my Dad or both. My Dad had bad grand mal seizures & his didn’t start till after my parents were married & they don’t know what caused his. Dad passed away from cancer in 2012. So there are some people out there who suddenly begin to start having seizures & they & their doctor don’t know why, just like we don’t know what ever made my Dad start having them. Good luck. I was maxed out one seizure med and they added another med as I still experiencing increased seizures. Went got 2nd opinion and 3rd EMU and found out it wasn't all seizures I was experiencing, some were psychogenic non epileptic seizures which seizure meds won't help with. So starting therapy to help with psychogenic non epileptic seizures, Dr says it's common for epileptic to also experience psychogenic non epileptic seizures. Hope this help a little

Same here I started having seizures out of the blue and both my parents don't have a history of having seizures
