Did I Suffer Just From Auras, Or Did The Epilepsy Medication I Was On Keep Me From Having Tonic Clonic Seizures.
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I had a grand mal seizure, at the age of 6 or 7. I had a horrible headache prior to my episode, but no aura. Hi Eric,
I never know whether to use the limited old epilepsy terminology, or the newer one that I have learned from being on this website. I will be 68 in April, so I know what you mean.
Tonic clonic or generalized seizures would be your grand mal seizures. Petit mal is now absence seizures.
Have a great, seizure free week.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Complex partial is just the old term for Focal onset seizure which can be either impaired or Focal aware. Auras are basically just Focal Aware seizures. But a lot of people still call them auras. This plus the old and new terms makes it confusing.

Thanks for the response. I just feel that my seizures were mislabeled as complex partial type, when they were just auras.
