My son has a bad headache and sinus congestion.
I can't take nsaids so I take tylenol arthritis which is just a stringer form of tylenol. I go to a pulmonary doc and the new antihistamines on the market are fine to take. Right now I take that xy something one but it works for a while and I switch to another newer one. I had a stroke and Don't remember the name but it's one of the newer ones too.. shockingly I get them for much less on prescription than otc. She had me try a nasal spray but I don't do good with those. Alot of people swear by them. Ask your Neurologist about the headaches unless they are sinus. If your son has any trouble breathing at all during his allergies take him to a pulmonary doctor if not to a ent doctor. You can also get his allergies checked to see what they are and how to deal with them with an allergist doctor. Good luck.
Since I can’t take most OTC meds I have started to use a sinus inhaler to combat the problem. It’s helped me without any side effects.
