Diagnose With Epilepsy Out Of No Where.
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was diagnosed with epilepsy at 22. No injuries
Or anything. I wonder if anyone was also diagnosed out of no where and what medicine you’re on?

I was diagnosed at age 13 after having a grand mal seizure in my sleep. Had never had a head injury. Finally became controlled at age 19. After I had my first child I had a break through seizure and that was my last one. I’m now 59 and still have to take medication to keep seizures controlled. All my EEGs show only a spike wave when I fall asleep and I believe these spike waves are seen in 95% of the population. I was told I have true epilepsy which is seizures of unknown cause. I went on to be a Registered Nurse and retired after 30 years of service.

I attempted to be a D+A abuse counselling. Did pass course of psychology no prob. but a simple necessity course of study skills no. Have no prob. remembering highly interested or used often, but if not of interested or hardly ever used no memory. I'm glad psychology is something not only interested in but also used often on myself to learn live with prob. easier, may not be professional but I think can be good person to talk to. I do what I do to give and get attempted help not payment,

My goal when I was younger was to be a RN! Seizures got in the way! I was a EEG Tech for 20.
