Hi Everyone! I have epilepsy and ADD, and my meds have got me in a brain fog. What foods, or diet do you follow? Any improvement in memory/focus with diet changes?
Be careful when it comes to the keto diet. As an adult it messed with my kidney function. Your gfr #. Plus I found out after the fact that one of my meds says not to eat a keto diet on that med. I ate vegan for 6 months per the kidney Dr and got my # up to a good amount. Than I saw a dietitian who said I can mix vegan meals with healthier fish or poultry meals and still keep my # up. Which I have plus I have lost some weight as well, bonus! The dietitian said the most important thing is to eat 1/2 of a 9in plate full of non starchy vegetables, 1/4 of the plate grains, 1/4 with your protein or substitute protein. This is at every meal of the day. If you eat a sandwich those ingredients are all going to be on the sandwich. Also eat avocado they are very healthy and full of vitamins and healthy fat. Only use olive oil or sunflower oil if you want a clean palate since olive oil has a distinctive flavor but is the healthiest to cook with. Canola and vegetable oil are not healthy. I hope the info helped you.
Have you tried to ask your doctor of a good nutritionist that knows of your epilepsy and ADD?
keto
I haven’t experienced it, but I’ve heard, that the Keto Diet is good for Epilepsy. ADD, I don’t know
Thank you for the comments. I have been eating cleaner but wanted to see if there were any suggestions on specific food/diets. I’ll connect with my doc as well. -Louie
