Is Lamotragine Good For Controlling Myaclonus?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi everyone
My Neurologist has suggested taking Lamotragine alongside Leveteracitam to control Myaclonus. Leveteracitam has reduced the Myaclonus considerably but I still have them especially when I cant manage tiredness, stress or in an environment that brings anxieties. Does anyone take Lamotragine and if so does it reduce Myaclonic seizures? and what are the side effects people are experiencing on this drug?

I couldn’t take any anticonvulsant medication for over 30 years. However I didn’t realise that the epilepsy had changed quite significantly and now I’m able to take Lacosamide and I can’t believe that I’ve had no symptoms or reactions from taken it and I’ve been on them for a while now and I’m so much better now than I’ve been before.

I’ve been on lamotrigine for over 20 years. Its main side effect is sleepiness, and maybe a reduction in appetite. It’s been very successful for me, and in combination with another drug, I was seizure free for 10 years before the heat got to me this year. I’ve been seizure free since that episode, too.

Do you mean Myoclonus? Generally With this Leveteracitam would be the first-line drug if needed you would have a second line drug. Lamotragine. Everyone is different so you can only try it and see how it goes.
