My son had a big seizure, his mouth was very wet with frothy blood stained spit. The Buccallam didn't seem to work, probably because it wasn't absorbed. Epistatus is a lesser amount and absorbed more readily I have been told
He needed oxygen for 30 minutes to get his sats back up. Thank God the paramedics got there quickly
He may need to go back on Sodium Valproate, it's the only one that stopped the seizures. He is Autistic with learning difficulties. So complex and vulnerable. Anyone elseโฆ read more
I am on Sodium Valproate, alongside Keppra, Topiramate, Pregabalin, and Vitamin D3 with Folate(as my body gets stripped of both). For rescue meds I either get oral Clobazam, or Diazepam.
I use a seizure recovery medication. I use it when needed. If I start having cluster seizures, or more than 2 seizures that day, I used use my Recovery med. I use an Oral Lorazepam.
Sodium Valproate - is this depakote?
My son had been on it for under a year but it kept him seizure free
He went off of it due to side effects; sodium sensitivity, weight gain, swelling of hands & feet, dry mouth....
Christine, I've had to perform CPR 2x with my son as he stops breathing as well.
His MRI shows white matter from brain injury from anoxia - not enough oxygen..
This is a very scary disorder. I'm actually looking into Ketogenic diet now as I'm learning it has been very helpful for others to become and maintain seizure free.
I wish and pray for all the best to you and your Son <3
