He is lashing out, throwing, etc. This is taking a dosage over 50 mg. Signs began 5-7 days after going up to from 50 mg to 75mg to 100mg.
We, neurologist and I, are slowing weaning him back down.
Generally speaking, every epilepsy med should be a weaning off and on process. Also feel it's safest to do this one drug at a time, if possible, because how can you determine side effects and efficaciousness of a particular med if you are mixing in changes and adding/subtracting multiple meds? Sometimes this is necessary, but bottom line, try to find a good neurologist who really has a lot of experience with epilepsy and all the meds. Good luck...
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member. My Nero wanted me to start on 25mg of Xcopri while weening me off of onifi ( clobazam) and also brivact at the same time and if I was weening of both those meds while taking Xcopri I found out that it had serious interactions and side effects that he didn't know about. I take topomax to but there was no trouble with topomax.
Did your doctor or neurologist start you on the lowest dose possible because that's the starting point and then working your way up but keeping up with the side effects like you're doing so you can find the right dose for you if it's the right medication for you. Before you were put on it did you or you're doctor or neurologist look for any interactions with other medications that your taking even if your being ween off a certain medication while taking Xcopri to be put on it this is the biggest oversight I've seen when my neurologist has wanted me to be deemed off any medication to be put on another and most recently he wanted me to be slowly weened off onifi while I started taking xcopri and it had serious interactions that the neurologist didn't even look at and wouldn't of even noticed if I had of done my own research.
Xcopri is a tough one. I have weaned down to 75 mg from 200 mg, and I still have issues. Mostly with balance, perspective, and coordination, not with mood.
