How did that go? Did you do the training yourself or have someone else do it? What advice do you have for me as I navigate this path? I just recently got a Sheeperdoodle to train as a service dog for me.
You can't train a dog (animal) to predict a seizure. It's something they learn from knowing you over time.
You can teach them to alert someone if your having a seizure. Get items(stuff like that).
Building a relationship with them they start to pick up on things we do. When we're happy... sad... or in trouble. Being an animal who's one main goal is to please it's master... they want to try to make us happy again.
So the next time they feel we're in trouble or sad... they let us know!
Make sure your dog is very well behaved. Alone, with people and other dogs... and go from there.
I have a gsd. Hes bit trained as a service dog but has kept me safe many many times. Hes able to sense them before they hit me. He gets me somewhere safe.
Hi Jessica, yes I agree. And I do love her. And I don't know if it fits the definition of any of these, but I want to train her as in basic obedience but also in how to aid me when I am having a seizure. I am working on the former, but need help finding the latter. :-) I believe she can be all of the above. But that's just me. π
Service Dog- a dog that has been professionally trained. It has legal papers stating the training both of you took.
Therapy Dog- a dog that has been well trained but doesn't have legal papers. (You will probably need verification from your Doctor to state that you need this animal).
Pet- an animal that has good or bad demeanor. It may or may not be loved or well treated.π₯
A dogs sole purpose in life is to please their master. They give unconditional love!
If humans just put on their list of goals to love others as much as their dog loves them... the world would be a much better place!π₯°πΎ
