How Do We Feel About Fintepla?
A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Doc wants to try but I have to get an echocardiogram first. Currently on Lyrica, Klonazepam, and Vimpat.

That would depend on what exactly is Fintepla is and what it is used for? What kind of side effects will it produce? Will it conflict with what I am currently taking? Your doctor wants to do the test to see how your heart is. For more information, go to this site Drugs.com and do a search on Fintepla.

TRY IT!!!!!! I took it for 6 years when it was marketed as a weight-loss drug called Pondamin. It took away that physical pain ya often feel with epilepsy and brought back my sense of "im here and i know what im doing" that i hadn't felt since id busted my head years earlier. I'd been a violent, vulgar c*** but all of a sudden I once again understood people. *and there were no side effects* Got all A's my junior year instead of just leaving my books in my locker and painting my nails. Car, appartment, beautiful daughter and no habits. . .then they took it off the market. I was folding laundry in front of the tv when they announced it on cnn. I called the doctor. Ya thats when all the very frightening stuff started. TRY IT!

It didn't work for weight loss. Ya i took it for epilepsy. It helped A LOT with the temporal lobe kind. Now it's only approved for a couple specific convulsive types only but at least it's got it's foot back in the door. I'm sure it will be used for epilepsy in general soon. I'd say it works as an antidepressant too. Read about it. Have yer dr. take the test to be approved to prescribe it. Most importantly, if it helps you, LET PEOPLE KNOW. And tell them how. Tell neurologists and psychiatrists. And epileptologists. Let them know how. Type a testamonial and give it to dr.s. Dont just put it online. Some of us have lives that are really mizerable because of epilepsy. We need to have all the meds availiable to us as we can find.
Good luck, hugs and kisses and let us know about yer progress!
